Making Responsible Choices
Each day this week prayerfully seek God's guidance in your choices. Discernment invites us to orient our lives toward God and God's visions for us and creation. Begin by reviewing the responsibilities and opportunities in the day before you. Ask God for wisdom and insight about what matters most.Offer yourself to God with the prayer of Teresa of Avila: "God, what do you want of me today?" Sit prayerfully with this question as you review the day again. Be aware of images, thoughts, names, or actions that come to you. Ask God for blessing to live this day compassionately in the spirit of Christ.

Sacraments in Community of Christ
Sacraments are special ministries given to the church to convey the grace of Jesus Christ to not just his followers but to all God's children whom Christ yearns to touch with his compassion. Through the sacraments, God sanctifies common elements of creation to bless human life and to renew and form the church to seek the peaceful kingdom of God. Community of Christ celebrates eight sacraments in the church: Blessing of children, Baptism, Confirmation, Communion, Marriage, Ordination, Laying on of hands for the sick and Evangelist Blessing.
The Sacrament of Baptism
Baptism is a personal expression of faith in Jesus Christ. This is how we first express our commitment to lifelong discipleship. In Community of Christ, elders and priests perform this sacrament by immersing the person in water. Other Christian denominations also immerse, and some may baptize by a different method, such as sprinkling or pouring. Baptism is for those who are old enough to decide for themselves to follow Christ (8 and older). This is sometimes called "believer's baptism." Community of Christ baptisms are done "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."
Community of Christ recognizes previous believers' baptisms of water for people who wish to continue their discipleship as members of Community of Christ. They can then be confirmed into membership.
